SOWITEC is one of the leading companies for developing, financing, marketing, building and managing renewable energy projects worldwide.

With its main office in Sonnenbühl, Germany and more than 200 employees worldwide, SOWITEC covers all areas of wind and solar power development: Planning and design including wind measurements and calculations of energy yields and wind farm profitability, project construction management, sales and financing as well as technical and commercial management of operating wind farms. Additional business areas include the registration of CDM projects and the commercialisation of CO2-certificates and electricity yields.

For our new subsidiary in Cape Town, South Africa we are looking for a

Managing Director – SOWITEC South Africa (m/f/d)

  • General and administrative management of the subsidiary and SPVs from the shareholder, including HR management, in alignment with your Co-Director in HQ
  • Managing the development of a large-scale wind energy project portfolio in South Africa
  • Strategic planning of subsidiary and managing of corporate processes in alignment with your Co-Director in HQ
  • Representing the subsidiary and SOWITEC group’s interest in front of local partners, public stakeholders, investors and financiers
  • Full responsibility that the subsidiary and the SPV´s comply with obligations according to tax-, labour- and social legislation
  • Managing accounting of the subsidiaries and SPVs following the local and international commercial- and tax laws as well as an adequate cost accounting

Job Requirements:

  • A university degree in engineering, business administration, economics or a related field
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in the named areas of responsibility
  • Profound knowledge of South Africa’s renewable energy sector and frame conditions
  • Ability for strategic thinking, planning and execution
  • Ability to manage a team and to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Good communication skills, assertive appearance and a confident manner with different types of stakeholders
  • Excellent command of English; additional indigenous languages are beneficial
  • Familiar with local business culture
  • Willingness to travel
