The government´s Renewable Energy goal is 25% of all generated electricity by 2012. However, big hydroelectric complexes are considered in the government 25% RE goal.
The Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) is in charge of permit granting. RE applications are exonerated of paying the CRE fees for obtaining the generation permit. The CRE has also published standardized grid connection contracts that take into account the variability of the generation of Renewable Sources.
The government has been creating fiscal incentives; energy equipments can be deducted up to 100% in a period of five years. Moreover, the government is encouraging local and foreign investors to invest in CDM (Clean Development Mechanisms) projects, a more intensive use of electricity saving techniques, reforesting campaigns, and RE energy to name some.
Wind Hardware producer have opened representation offices in the country. Strong international companies like Vestas, ABB, GE, Siemens and a local company called Potencia Industrial S.A. de C.V. have commercial activities in the country.

SoWiTec Mexico is currently planning a pipeline of some 7,500 MW wind power projects.
