| Historie | The beginning: The "Himmelberg" Wind Farm The SowiTec company was founded in 1993, when the two brothers Frank and Gerd Hummel decided to develop and construct a wind farm upon the Himmelberg mountain at Melchingen in the Swabian Alb. This first wind farm is close to the present headquarter office in Sonnenbuehl, 50 km South of Stuttgart. The "Himmelberg" wind farm construction was completed by 1995. It consists of 3 wind energy turbines model Micon M1500-600, with a hub height of 46 m. This made SoWiTec the first operator of a large scale wind energy installation in the state of Baden-Württemberg. SoWiTec was the first company to realize a wind farm project of this greater scale in Baden-Württemberg.Due to this early step, SoWiTec now looks back upon 15 years of experience. This greatly benefits the company's engineering and innovative capabilities.
